He was born in Batala, India on September 11, 1905. His well-Known friends include the famous Urdu writers Ashfaq Ahmed and Qudratullah Shahab. After partition of India Mumtaz Mufi migrated to Pakistan. He died on October 27, 1995 in Islamabad.
