Phulkari is written by Ashfaq Ahmed. Ashfaq Ahmed born on 22 August 1925 in Ferozpur city of India. He was an Urdu writer, play writer and broadcaster. He started wrote stories in his childhood, which were published in Phool magazine. He wrote novels, short stories and plays for Pakistan Television and Radio. in 1962 Ashfaq Ahmed started his show 'Talqeen Shan' which made him immensely popular over the Pakistan in villages and towns.
He won Pride of performance award in 1979 and also got Sitara e Imtiaz.
Famous novelist and story writer Bano Qudsia was his wife.
He was a Sufi writer. In last days of his life he was greatly inclined towards sufism. His close association with Qudratullah Shahab and Mumtaz Mufti was also attributed to his tendency towards Sufisim. He died on 7 September 2004 in Lahore.
